The Story of Tuisa

Tuisa is a company based in Aura, Finland, specializing in the wholesale and retail of eco-friendly and natural products that support health and well-being.

Tuisa was founded in 2007, when entrepreneur Tuija Toivonen had the opportunity to start importing crystal salt products."I fell head over heels for the properties of crystal salt."Salt has been used for centuries not only to season food but also to treat the skin and respiratory system. This eventually inspired the creation of SADE, Tuisa’s Finnish, natural skincare and haircare line."Every product contains crystal salt in addition to other high-quality natural ingredients, making them especially suitable for sensitive and problem skin – as well as the scalp."

Kirsi

Kirsi has been working at Tuisa since 2015 and has actively contributed to developing Tuisa’s operations alongside Tuija. She is a hardworking and skilled professional in sales and marketing. Kirsi is the creative force behind Tuisa’s website, various sales materials, and advertisements. She collaborates closely with different partners and serves as Tuija’s reliable right-hand woman. In her free time, Kirsi is also a very active mother. She’s a true multitasker – anything she puts her hands on gets done. Kirsi enjoys interior decorating, renovating, gardening, mushroom and berry picking. Kirsi’s favorite products from Tuisa’s selection include the Salt Aroom salt aroma diffuser, cooking and seasoning salts, and Sade toothpaste. The salt aroma diffuser has clearly helped ease congestion and allergy symptoms – even her husband no longer snores thanks to it. The seasoning salts are a daily part of the family’s cooking, and Kirsi couldn’t go a day without the Sade toothpaste. Another daily favorite is the goat milk bar soap, which she uses every day.

Tuija

Tuisa’s and Tuija’s shared journey began when Tuija became fascinated by the properties of crystal salt and was offered the opportunity to start importing crystal salt products in 2007. In the beginning, she ran the business alone, but today Tuisa employs two additional team members alongside Tuija. Tuija is energetic, determined, and has a very positive personality. In her free time, she enjoys a wide variety of sports—going to the gym, jogging, skiing, and cycling. Nature is very important to Tuija, and she spends a lot of time outdoors hiking and staying active. A cottage in the archipelago provides the perfect balance to her busy entrepreneurial life. What three Tuisa products could you not live without? “Sade toothpaste, the soothing salt balm, and the gentle scalp shampoo. I use them every day!

Kati

Energetic mother of three, Kati, is a trained nurse who has worked with patients of all ages. Her professional background includes roles such as head nurse at the pediatric allergy and dermatology clinic at TAYS (Tampere University Hospital) and independent consultation work at a local health center. Kati fell in love with Tuisa’s products years ago, so she brings both expertise and long-term user experience to the team. At Tuisa, Kati works in customer service, sales and marketing, and also serves as our social media coordinator. She boldly jumped into a completely new and unfamiliar role in March 2021 and quickly made it her own. It feels like she’s always been a part of the team. This sporty "soccer mom" also has another passion-driven job that perfectly balances her desk work—teaching group fitness and spinning classes at a private gym. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle play a central role in her life, and family always comes first. What do you enjoy most about your job? “Definitely the customer interactions, the amazing products, and the positive feedback from happy customers when I’ve been able to help them. If I don’t know something or can’t answer right away, I always make sure to find out. I’m lucky to have skilled professionals around me for support and guidance.” If you had to choose three Tuisa products you couldn’t live without, what would they be? “It’s hard to pick just three, but I can easily name the ones I absolutely need every single day: the Soothing Balm, Crystal Salt Spray, and Goat Milk Liquid Soap. And I have to add—I started using the Sade toothpaste a few days ago, and I honestly don’t understand why I didn’t start sooner! It’s amazing. My mouth feels fresh all day and my mouth ulcers are finally gone!

Our store is located in Aura, at Kuovinkuja 13. We’re easy to reach—just take a quick turn from Highway 9 and follow the signs directly to us.
